We are in week three of our winter school holidays. We've found a groove that will be turned upside down this time next week. Not to worry. All things must change. We've had a few family birthdays. Indira received a karaoke machine (so much fun, even more after, you know, vino) and birthdays always seem to creep up on me this time of year. Some years I get all lovely and prepped for the birthday/holiday season and pride myself on my planning and forethought. I rest on my laurels. So then the next year comes along, I'm lying down on those laurels half asleep and realise that I have nothing sorted, not even so much as a card. Bad me.
We are going to welcome some lop bunnies to our little home. The most interesting fact that I've read in my research on rabbit keeping is about the hutch. Originally it was a pantry. Literally inside the kitchen. The rabbit would live in there, get fatter with tid bits and eventually end up in the pot! I giggled, even though I am quite sympathetic to animals. Indira is naming her rabbit George. Bodhi's list goes like this; Stella (from the French bulldog in Modern Family), Collin, Herbert, Kevin (?), Henry, Jesus (?!), Larry (Modern Family) and Laurence. Dazla told him he might have to wait to meet his rabbit before naming him so lucky he has about 20 more names to choose from. Me, I'm going for Henry.
Our tenant is moving out so I'm interviewing for a new one. I've always wanted a lodger. I don't know if it's p.c or even correct to refer to them as a lodger but I'm going to now, privately you know.
We've been at the library a few times over the holidays and I just love surfacing with a massive armful of books to bring home. Even just looking at them stacked up on the coffee table brings me so much pleasure. Easily pleased. I read this fabulous article about the first airbnb shop in Scotland. It's a bookshop. You sleep upstairs and in the day you open the shop. It's for all those people who've ever wanted to own a bookshop without the hassle of rent, book ordering and so on. Even the article is a delight to read.
