I thought it was about time I wrote on my own blog. I manage several and this lovely one over here has been neglected far too long.
Home is lovely. We've been gently swept into the new year, the new term of school and the children and I are settling nicely into a morning routine. I made little checklists to guide them along the way. They like checking the boxes - not sure for how long before the resentment sets in but for now it's working. Rasta came to work with me yesterday for the first time. He has his own checklist too; wake up, downward dog, shake, eat breakfast, out on the lawn, wake up the kids, put his car harness on, pack his water bowl and small tin of biscuits and his good to go.
My new job is going quite well. It's a job I love, so really, it's easy. I'm managing the Gosford ashram. A divine two story house with a magical garden. There are plenty of similarities to the grand houses described by the likes of C.S Lewis and Co. Awkward cupboards, strange little rooms, wide hallways and narrow doors. A frangipani greets you at the door and it's scent is radiant. I decked out the tea cupboard yesterday with a Dilmah range from Ceylon and a exotic Moconna coffee. I haven't bought instant coffee in an age and stood confused at the range on offer. I made a little snug nest library in one of the rooms. They are over 100 existing books with interesting titles of the ancient forms of yoga. I've dragged in potted plants from outside and trimmed them up to help bring alive quiet corners of rooms. I've rehomed various pots, candelabras and dishes of old seventies pottery. My next coup on the centre is whitewashing the interior. A massive job. A group of karma yogis will probably come out from Mangrove for this one. A sigh of relief, a breath of fresh air, a new start for a magnificent old building.
I think that's it for now. I can hear the stirring of others, birds have been singing for a couple of hours and the dawn has well and truly broken. I wanted to share my aspirations for the next coming little while - I will, later. Now today, it's preparation for tonight's full moon, a haircut and maybe a new pair of specs. Have a beautiful day. Much love.
