Love is the Water of Life.
A moment of happiness,
you and I sitting on the verandah,
apparently two, but one in soul, you and I.
A house of love with no limits,
a presence more beautiful than venus or the moon,
a beauty whose image fills the mirror of the heart.
This is love:
to fly toward a secret sky,
to let go and just live.
to take a step without thought of feet.
Love is reckless; not reason.
Reason seeks a profit.
Having died of self-interest,
Love risks everything and asks for nothing.
Passion makes the old medicine new:
Passion lops off the bough of weariness.
Passion is the elixir that renews:
how can there be weariness
when passion is present?
Oh, don't sigh heavily from fatigue:
seek passion, seek passion, seek passion!
The real beloved is your beginning and your end.
When you find that one,
you'll no longer expect anything else:
The springtime of Lovers has come,
that this dust bowl may become a garden;
the proclamation of heaven has come,
that the bird of the soul may rise in flight.
The sea becomes full of pearls,
the salt marsh becomes sweet as kauthar,
the stone becomes a diamond from the mine,
the body becomes wholly soul.
Those who don't feel this Love
pulling them like a river,
those who don't drink dawn
like a cup of spring water
or take in sunset like supper,
those who don't want to change,
let them sleep.
This Love is beyond the study of theology,
that old trickery and hypocrisy.
I you want to improve your mind that way,
sleep on.
I've given up on my brain.
I've torn the cloth to shreds
and thrown it away.
If you're not completely naked,
wrap your beautiful robe of words
around you,
and sleep.
The Waratah
window by Alfred Handel in St Bede's Church, Drummoyne Australia. An early 20th century
work, it depicts Australian native flowers, the red Waratah, emblem of the
state of New South Wales; Flannel Flowers, Christmas Bells and Wattle (Acacia).
The inscription reads, "The heavens declare the glory of God. The
firmament showeth his handiwork."
The Waratah Essence

Black despair, hopelessness, inability to respond to crisis.
