I'm so delighted about this dear little find in the garden over the weekend. For me it represents hope or rather faith in these cold wintery months. Everything changes, slowly, gradually, suddenly and nature gives me an opportunity to practice yoga - equanimity and endurance.
This is titikṣā.
titikṣā-śītoṣṇādi-dvandva-sahiṣṇutā[Vedāntasāra, 22]*
Titikṣā is the endurance of heat and cold and other pairs of opposites.
Sahiṣṇutāis endurance;dvandva means the pairs of opposites;
Śita is cold, and uṣṇa is hot. An endurance of the pairs of opposites, such as heat and cold, is called titikṣā. Endurance is the ability to withstand ups and downs.
Endurance is freedom from anxiety, lamentation, and retaliation, both inwardly and outwardly.
Similaray, there should not be any aggressiveness or retaliation in our lives.
"I am the same in all beings. There is no one I dislike nor do I have a favourite."
~ Bhagavad Gita, 9-29 ~
❤❤❤“In the Bhagavad Gita while showing Arjuna His universal form, Lord Krishna said: “Behold, O Arjuna, all My forms by the hundreds and thousands, of different sorts, divine and of various colours and shapes. Behold the Adityas, the Vasus, the Rudras, the two Ashvins and also the Maruts; behold many wonders never seen before, O Arjuna. Now behold in my body the whole universe centred in one, including the moving and the unmoving and whatever else you desire to see.”
All living beings in this world are part of God, part of the one form in which God has manifested Himself. The happy ones, the unhappy ones, the trees, the animals are all a part of Him. If you want to realise God, then try to know not only the transcendental God, but also the God who lives in every living being and also in non-living things. Only then can you know Him fully. Just knowing a part of Him is not enough. You should know Him totally and in all His forms. God is always with you. Nothing is diffcult for Him, only He should be convinced that you are totally honest in whatever you are thinking and doing.” ~ Swami Satyananda Saraswati ~ full article here, p.13.
"You know that the seed is inside the horse-chestnut tree,
And inside the seed there are blossoms of the tree, and the chestnuts, and
the shade.
So inside the human body there is the seed, and inside the seed there is
the body again.
Fire, air, earth, water, and space - if you don't want the secret one, you
cannot have these either.
Thinkers listen, tell me what you know of that is not in the soul?
A pitcher full of water is set down on the water -
Now it has water inside and water outside.
We mustn't give it a name, lest silly people start talking again about the
body and the soul.
If you want the truth, I'll tell you the truth;
Listen to the secret sound, the real sound, which is inside you.
The one no one talks of speaks the secret sound to himself,
And She is the one who has made it all."
