I'm organising a raffle for Sivananda Math. The first prize is a classical Indian harmonium, second; a weekend at either Mangrove or Rocklyn Ashram, third prize is the whole set of Yogadrishta books. It is open to Australian Residents only.
Here is an opportunity for you to help others in great need, to open your heart space and to experience yoga in many different forms simply by purchasing a ticket in the Sivananda Math Raffle.
Here is an extract from the book Mantras and Yantras.
“The understanding of mantras changed as people moved further away from their spiritual nature. One example is the meaning of the mantra Om Namah Shivaya. “I salute, I bow down to Shiva” is the literal meaning, but Om Namah Shivaya does not mean “I salute Shiva.” There are six different mantras in Om Namah Shivaya. First, Om, second Na, third Mah, fourth Shi, fifth Va and sixth Ya. All six sounds are interconnected with different chakras. When you say Na, Mah, Shi, Va, Ya, you are touching different chakras. When you say Om, you are activating agni chakra. When you say Namah, it is manipura chakra. When you say Shi, it is vishuddhi chakra. When you say Va, it is swadhistana. When you say Ya, it is the heart chakra, anahata…”
“Due to misunderstandings and lack of comprehension about the effects of mantras, people have associated them with religion. All religions appeared on this planet many thousands of years after yoga. Why then were the mantras associated with religion?...” p. 32.
