"This is a musical voyage through the culture and natural wonders of Tibet, 'the rooftop of the world'. The music is a mix of Eastern and Western styles with Tibetan traditional instruments and voices at the core of the orchestration. With its history and cultural richness, I felt encouraged to compose a Tibetan themed album. However, I decided to deviate from the regular spiritual path and create music that reflects the vibrancy of the Tibetan people and paints a picture of the remarkable Tibetan landscape and architecture." OLO THE BOY FROM TIBET

OLO THE BOY FROM TIBET is a moving and timely film. Olo was six when he fled from Tibet when his mother gave him a push forward and said ''Study hard''. Living in Dharamsala, northern India, Olo asks ''Why did my mother urge me to leave my homeland?'' The camera films him as he looks for answers. Serious global attention and real concern is being paid to the potentially genocidal situation occurring in Tibet. This experience will update you on how Tibetans are surviving and maintaining their religion and culture - against the odds.

dna, rainbows and prayer

Recently bio-physicists have extracted DNA samples and noted an abundance of light activity within the double helix structure of molecules that comprise each strand (called 'bio- electric signalling'). DNA has intelligence and has been used to solve mathematical problems. It has already proven to be a powerful data storage medium. Now scientists are starting to wonder if our genetic material could also dream. DNA may behave as a liquid crystal or turn into a solid crystal if dehydrated. My dear friend Amanda was telling me about a book – I tell you the title when I remember – where children had experienced near death. They were children from all over the world and they told their stories. Most children spoke of a woman who appeared to them dressed in blue robes with stars at her feet. They said she had the kindest face they had ever seen. Each time they prayed rainbows appeared. They could see the earth wrapped in rainbows and asked this woman why the earth was wrapped. She told them that the rainbows were people’s prayers.

Obaitori will resume this spring tomorrow evening with the final three sessions of the Art of Freedom. We will be learning about the major concepts of yoga from the Bhagavadgita. As a starting point we will read from Swami Niranjan's interpretations of the Gita. They are available here in a series of four satsangs – or spiritual discourses. If you wish to deepen your understanding of one of the greatest spiritual books the world has seen please read these satsangs. Tomorrow evening I will have a few copies available. If you have an interpretation of the Gita please bring it along with you. See you for a lovely evening of prayer, meditation, and relaxation and warmly scented jasmine breeze. the beauty of neti

Now that the wattle, cherry blossoms the grass seeds and everything are filling the air I'm washing their pollens out of my nose by doing neti everyday. It's been particularly dusted too around here and blowing my nose doesn't cut it.

Neti not only washes out the six sinuses of the head, it clears, cleans and clarifies agni chakra. It leaves me feeling balanced, focuses, totally awake! Be warned, it is addictive.

Mother Mary, Mother of God. We bow down to you. Your humble presence continually pervades our existence and we continue to marvel and and gain inspiration from your miracles and earthly appearances.

Paramahansa Sivananda. A giant of a godly man. The entire world who is effected by the ripples of yoga are indebted to this god man. For more of his inspiration visit here. It seems like an endless source...

Today we bring their gifts into our home and I give them to my children, my husband, my self and any others who may come.

Today we remember Blessed Mother Teresa of Kolkata. When Mother Teresa received the Nobel Peace Prize, she was asked, "What can we do to promote world peace?" She answered "Go home and love your family."

A short post today. Really, go and love your family. That means you also, put your feet up, relax or look at yourself in the mirror and say "I love you", try not to wince,  xxx ; )

oh, mr sun

When I was a new graduate of Early Childhood Education I was often found sitting with a bunch of pre-schoolers in the garden. I would make up songs for them and this one seems to have stuck. Very simple, not grand, just a little ditty...

Please shine down on me

Today whilst absorbing that all important vitamin D I sing my song to the sun.

I was also reminded by the very beautiful Nicole that vitamin D is best imbibed by the skin if it is left on. In Juliette de Bairacli Levy's book Nature's Children she describes that if you lay in the sun to absorb the D do not wash it off the skin for 24 hours.

So along with my 1200 iu of vitamin D 1,2 and 3 from the bottle, wild fish and organic cow's milk and sitting scantily clad becoming one with the sun, I'm hoping that my levels will improve dramatically because I want to feel totally fabulous, most of the time.
