Light a candle is one of the most beloved parts of Gratefulness.org website. The first candles were lit in May 2001. Since then 9,527,985 candles have been lit from 242 countries. This continues to rise daily.
"In many different traditions lighting candles is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. Why should cyberspace not be sacred?" (from Gratefulness.org).
If you
need to light a candle & can’t get to your local church, temple & still
want the full power that those types of places imbibe, go to the following
link. Your candle/sankalpa/wish or prayer will burn for 48 hours.
"By
concentrating on a form, sound or light, we learn to constantly be in that
state of inner aloneness and to be joyful in any situation." - Sri Amritanandamayi Ma (Amma)
Meditation
is where we develop a subtle awareness, so that in our daily lives, when core
issues or powerful emotions arise, we can see them for what they are and
develop a calm confidence in dealing with them. To do that we go back to the
meditation process and work on them again and again, to look at how we have
managed in our life and how we can improve ourselves in those situations. The
techniques become the tools, which are available, more and more outside of
formal meditation practice.
