Passiflora incarnata

Holy flower of the vine,
Passion Flower you are thine,
Rise above to star-light Sun,
Showering compassion on everyone.

The passion flower is one that captures the interest and hearts of many people. These flowers appear at Christmas time in Australia, a mute reminder of the Passion of the Christ.

The symbology of the flower;

~ the 72 radial filaments; the crown of thorns

~ the 5 wounds; the crown of thorns, the three nails, and the spear in Jesus’ side

~ the top 3 stigmas; the Holy Trinity

~ the purple petals; Jesus Christ's royal robes

~ the white petals; purity

~ the 10 petals; the 12 apostles minus Judas and Peter
